WHL:

The Prince George Cougars are getting another impact player back from the NHL.

Last week it was Riley Heidt and Terik Parascak and this week it is Koehn Ziemmer.

Ziemmer, who turns 20 in December, was returned to the Cougars by the LA Kings.

He missed the majority of the 2023-24 regular season due to injury but returned for the playoffs.

Ziemmer’s 91 goals as a Cougar currently rank fifth all-time in team history.

Meanwhile, the Cougars have traded 19-year-old import defenseman Vojtech Vochvest to the Prince Albert Raiders for a 2027 8th-round pick.

The (4-2-1) Cougars have three home games this week starting with a doubleheader against the (4-1) Portland Winterhawks tonight (Tuesday) and tomorrow.

The Winterhawks beat the Cougars 3-2 Saturday in Portland as Ryan Miller snapped a 2-2 tie with just 3.3 seconds left in the 3rd period.

BCHL: 

The (3-4) Prince George Spruce Kings play their next two games in Alberta against Okotoks on Friday and Brooks on Saturday.

They will follow that with a pair of games in Abbotsford against Alberni Valley on Thanksgiving Monday and against Blackfalds on Tuesday, October 15th.

The Spruce Kings next game in Prince George will be on Saturday, October 19th at 6 PM against Chilliwack.

NHL:

The North American part of the NHL regular season opens today (Tuesday) with 3 games: St. Louis at Seattle (1:30 PM), Boston at Florida (4:00) and Chicago at Utah (7:00).

The Vancouver Canucks start on Wednesday when they host the Calgary Flames (7:00).

MLB: (2nd games in the best-of-5 American League Division Series)

The National League best-of-5 Division Series will resume today (Tuesday) with Philadelphia at the New York Mets (2:08 PM) followed by the LA Dodgers at San Diego (6:08 PM).

NFL: (Final game in Week 5)

Kansas City  26  New Orleans  13

The Chiefs and Minnesota Vikings are the only NFL teams with a perfect 5-0 record.

CFL:

The B.C. Lions have just two games left in their regular season.

The (8-8) Lions are 3rd in the West Division, with a guaranteed playoff spot locked up, a point behind the (8-7-1) Saskatchewan Roughriders.

B.C. will play at Saskatchewan on Saturday (4 PM) before hosting the (11-3-1) Montreal Alouettes on Saturday, October 19th (4 PM).

Week 19 in the CFL begins Friday (5:30 PM) with (8-7) Toronto at (10-6) Winnipeg.

The West-leading Blue Bombers have won eight straight.

BC Football Conference:

The Prince George Kodiaks finished their 3rd season in the (7-team) BCFC in 6th place with a 3-7 record.

The Kodiaks won their last two games; both were against the Broncos including a 31-28 victory Saturday in Kamloops.

Canada West Soccer:

The (1-9) UNBC Timberwolves host the (10-0) UBC Thunderbirds in Canada West women’s soccer Friday and Saturday at 6 PM at Masich Place Stadium.

The UNBC women will conclude their season at Trinity Western on October 18th at 5 PM and at Fraser Valley on October 20th at 1 PM.

The (1-11-2) UNBC men’s soccer team is off on the long weekend.

They have two games remaining which will go against the (1-9-2) Thompson Rivers Wolfpack on October 18th and 19th at 7 PM each day.
