WHL:

A day after forward Riley Heidt was returned to Prince George by the Minnesota Wild, sniper Terik Parascak was sent back to the Cougars from the Washington Capitals.

The 18-year-old Parascak posted 105 points, including 43 goals in his rookie season with P.G.

He was selected 17th overall by Washington in June’s NHL Draft in Las Vegas.

The (2-1-1) Cougars are 1-1 on a five-game road trip that continues tonight (Wednesday) at 7:05 against the Kelowna Rockets.

The (0-3) Rockets are the only WHL team without a victory this season.

Defenceman Keaton Dowhaniuk, who spent four seasons with the P.G. Cougars, has joined the Vernon Vipers for his final year of junior hockey.

Canada West Soccer:

The UNBC Timberwolves are home in the women’s division and on the road with the men this weekend in Canada West soccer.

The (1-7) UNBC women host the (5-1-3) Victoria Vikes Friday at noon and the (2-5-2) Mount Royal Cougars Sunday at noon.

The (1-9-2) UNBC men visit the (7-0-2) UBC Thunderbirds Friday night at 7:30 and Saturday night at 7:00 (with their final two games of the season at (1-8-1) Thompson Rivers Wolfpack on October 18th and 19th at 7 PM.

BC Football Conference:

The Prince George Kodiaks complete their 3rd season in the B.C. Football Conference when they visit the Kamloops Broncos Saturday night at 6:00.

The Kodiaks are 2-7 while the Broncos are 1-8.

The two teams have split their first two meetings this year.

The Broncos won 43-27 on August 24th before the Kodiaks scored a 23-21 victory last Saturday (Sept 28th) with both of those games at Masich Place Stadium.

NFL: 

Week 5 of the NFL season starts Thursday night at 5:15 with Tampa Bay at Atlanta in a battle of NFC South Division teams.

The Bucs are 3-1 while the Falcons sit 2-2.

CFL:

The B.C. Lions host the (4-9-1) Calgary Stampeders Friday night at 7:00.

With three games left in their regular season, the (7-8) Lions are 3rd in the West Division, a point behind the (7-7-1) Saskatchewan Roughriders.

Week 18 in the CFL begins Friday at 4 PM with (9-6) Winnipeg at (6-9) Hamilton.

The West-leading Blue Bombers have won seven straight while the Tiger-Cats are riding a 4-game winning streak.

The Lions final two games are at Saskatchewan on Oct 12th (4 PM) and home against East-leading Montreal on Oct 19th (4 PM).
