“42nd Street Project” stage reading to be held by Theatre Northwest

Theatre Northwest will host its inaugural stage reading of the 2024/2025 season on Monday.

It is part of the “42nd Street Project” an outreach endeavor which allows local actors a chance to work slowly on a selected theatrical text over a number of months to workshop and develop the piece over time.

Bradley Charles, an Artistic Associate at Theatre Northwest hosts the reading and helms the project with a group of local actors.

“The 42nd Street Project was inspired by the legend surrounding Louis Malle’s fabled final film ‘Vanya on 42nd street’, which documents an a-list cast of actors in New York in 1989 who gathered to rehearse the Chekhov classic Uncle Vanya for three years. This was a chance to work on a rich piece of theatre without the distractions of deadlines or filming schedules. These folks will be working on this play for the next year or so and learning about different acting techniques all towards building a really rich and intentional performance that I think audiences will absolutely love!”

Tickets to the reading cost $10 are available at [email protected] or by calling the box office at 250-563-6969.
