The Union of B-C Municipalities is calling on the provincial government to make transit use free for all teenagers.
The municipal leaders passed a resolution on the matter at their annual meeting in Vancouver.
But transit firms say they can’t afford such a break.
Translink, the transit service in Metro Vancouver, says the move would cost them 30-million dollars a year.
It says any such break for teens should be revenue-neutral, with the province making up the shortfall.
