Kodiaks step up for high school football players without a team in Prince George

The Prince George Kodiaks are launching a new high school football program for players without one.

This comes after the team learned PGSS, Duchess Park, and DP Todd will not offer football programming this fall.

The new, community-based program is being launched for players affected by the change.

“We want to ensure that any player at any age has the opportunity to develop and grow through the sport,” said Kodiaks Head Coach Jamie Boreham.

“Through supporting our own, we can create a unique football environment that can not be matched anywhere else in the province.”

Any high-school aged-athlete without a program will be eligible to participate.

Separate programs will be offered for players in grades eight and nine and for players in grades ten through 12.

“Football starts in our backyard, which is where this dram of Kodiaks Football came from,” Boreham said.

“The stronger we are locally, the stronger we can be nationally.”

The season will run until the end of October, and the cost for both programs will be $300 per athlete.
