Prince George in for warmer than normal Labour Day weekend

Labour Day weekend will give the Prince George area one last crack at summer.

That is according to Environment Canada Meteorologist, Armel Castellan, who says temperatures will be well above normal this long weekend.

“By Saturday, we expect temperatures to be closer to the mid 20s, and potentially 27 for Sunday,” he said. “That would constitute 7 or 8 degrees above seasonal.”

Those temperatures won’t remain constant, Castellan only expects overnight highs of around 10 degrees over the weekend.

“It will not be a heat warning type of event, but it will feel warm compared to the last week or so,” Castellan explained.

He said temperatures will start to fall on Monday and bring a chance of a thunderstorm, but will remain a few degrees above seasonal for the first week of September.

“The UV index is still borderline in the high category. Have a look on Friday for Saturday and Sunday in particular, wear some sunscreen and be safe, even if it is the end of summer,” he added.
