UNBC Timberwolves:

The UNBC Timberwolves begin their Canada West men’s soccer season when they visit the Fraser Valley Cascades tonight (Friday) at 6:00 and Sunday afternoon at 1:00.

UNBC is ranked 11th and Fraser Valley 10th out of 13 teams in the Canada West preseason coaches poll.

The Timberwolves home openers will be August 30th and 31st (6:00 each night) against the Victoria Vikes.

The UNBC women’s soccer team will open its season September 6th at Mount Royal.

BCFC: 

The (1-4) Prince George Kodiaks are back in action when they host the (0-4) Kamloops Broncos Saturday night at 6:00 at Masich Place Stadium.

The Kodiaks have lost four straight and are midway through their 10-game schedule.

CFL: (Week 12)

Toronto  20  Saskatchewan  19

The Argos got a point on a missed field goal on the final play of the game to improve to 6-4.

The Riders fell to 5-5-1.

Friday Night Football in the CFL (5:30) has (2-8) Hamilton at (4-6) Winnipeg.

The (5-5) B.C. Lions, who have dropped their last four, play Saturday (4 PM) in Ottawa against the (6-2-1) Redblacks.

Ottawa is the only team in the league without a loss at home this season, going 4-0-1.

MLB:

Toronto Blue Jays  5  LA Angels  3

The (60-68) Blue Jays are 2-2 on a 7-game homestand that continues tonight (Friday 4:07) against the (54-74) LA Angels.

The (64-64) Seattle Mariners start a 6-game homestand tonight at 7:10 against the (65-64) San Francisco Giants.

The Mariners, who just went 1-8 on a 9-game road trip, fired manager Scott Servais and replaced him with former catcher Dan Wilson.

Seattle led the A.L. West by 10 games on June 18th.

They are now in second place, 5 1/2 games behind the (69-58) Houston Astros.
