Hundreds of students across School District 57 are anxiously awaiting their first day of high school.
Most of the high schools in Prince George have set up grade eight orientation camps that will give students a chance to familiarize themselves with their new schools before classes begin.
According to SD57, PGSS, CHSS, Duchess Park, and D.P. Todd will all hold orientations of some sort next week:
Registered PGSS students are invited to the school from 10:00 – 2:00 on August 26, 27, and 28 – lunch is provided and there is no cost. Anyone who has not registered for the camp is being asked to show up with a parent to do so.
New CHSS students will meet at the school on August 27, 28, and 29 from 10:00 – 3:00. Their camp costs $35 per student and includes t-shirts and lunch. This camp is full, but you can still contact the school to be added to a waitlist, or go to the school on August 30th at 9:30 for a tour.
Duchess Park’s camp is a one day event on August 29th from 10:00 – 1:00. It is free, no sign up is required, and lunch is provided.
D.P. Todd is splitting its camp into two days – August 29th for students with last names A-K and August 30th for last names L-Z. All registered students are able to attend, and lunch is provided.
Shas Ti Kelly Road has not announced a grade eight orientation.
The school year starts on September 3rd.
