Quesnel RCMP Sergeant Clay Kronebusch says police partnered with Quesnel City Bylaw Officers in an investigation into shop lifting.
Kronebusch stated the investigation was a result of concerns raised by local businesses about the ongoing thefts from their stores and the growing frustration.
“Over the course of the past 4 days, members of the RCMP Crime Reduction Unit, along with bylaw, worked to identify and apprehend people committing thefts from businesses around Quesnel.”
He adds the project was a success.
“The project led to the recovery of $1,728.89 worth of goods, the execution of 18 outstanding arrest warrants and the recovery of a stolen semi-truck worth approximately $25,000.”
Kronebusch mentioned they also arrested 7 men and 1 woman and 3 youth were detained for investigation.
The results of the investigation will now be forwarded to the BC Prosecution Service for assessment of appropriate charges.
