PG Fire Rescue members return to Prince George after assisting with River Valley Wildfire

Some of the Prince George Fire Rescue members assisting with the River Valley Wildfire in Williams Lake have now returned to Prince George.

According to the City, the Provincial Structure Protection Coordinator requested assistance from PG Fire Rescue on the wildfire near Williams Lake on Sunday.

Two back-up fire engines and six firefighters were deployed that evening, and immediately started fire suppression support upon arrival at 2:30 am.

“We are happy to provide support to our neigbours across the region when we are able,” said Fire Chief Cliff Warner.

“This deployment did not impact day-to-day operations for the City of Prince George.”

One truck and four of the crew members returned last night, and the remaining crew will stay for a few more days.

The BC Wildfire Service says the River Valley Wildfire is now under control.
