What is there to do in Prince George this weekend?

It will be another hot weekend in Prince George, and there are plenty of events in the sun to check out.

Downtown Summerfest – Saturday 11:00 – 4:00

The annual festival will be set up at Veterans Plaza in front of City Hall, featuring an outdoor food court, face painting, vendors, and a petting zoo.

It will also mark the launch of the ‘Taste of Downtown’ passport program, which will allow restaurant goers the chance to enter draws for downtown gift certificates.

Huble Homestead Kids’ Carnival – Saturday 10:30 – 4:00

It is one of Huble Homestead’s largest events of the year, including hourly magic shows, carnival games, a clown, and multiple community groups with booths for crafts and activities set up.

The event is by donation (recommended at $10 per family) plus 50 cents per carnival game ticket.

PG Kodiaks Home & Season Opener – Saturday 6:00

Through two seasons in the BC Football Conference, Prince George has established itself as one of the most rabid fanbases.

Those fans will return to Masich Place Stadium tomorrow when the Kodiaks play the Vancouver Island Raiders to open the 2024 season.

Impressions Auto Show – Saturday

Impressions Custom Auto is holding a charity show in the CN Centre parking lot.

The show will raise money for a local Parkinson’s Volunteer Group, and is open to anyone in the public who would like to show off a vehicle.

It begins at noon.

BC Railway and Forestry Museum exhibit opening – Friday 5:30 – 7:30

The exhibit is called ‘Jack and Drill,’ and is all about simple machines.

Created by student summer curatorial assistants, the exhibit focuses on the wedge, wheel, inclined plane, screw, pulley, and lever, and their applications in industrial equipment.

BC Road Builders & Heavy Construction Association Road Show – Friday & Saturday

A custom 34-foot trailer featuring hands-on simulators of heavy equipment, will be in Prince George later this week as part of the BC Road Builders & Heavy Construction Association talent acquisition tour of the province.

It will stop at the Nechako Aboriginal Employment Training Association today and be involved with Summerfest tomorrow.
