In response to the heat warning issued in the Prince George area by Environment Canada, the City has activated its Emergency Operations Centre (EOC) and is working with partnering organizations to provide cooling spaces.
For today (Tuesday) and tomorrow (Wednesday), the following cooling centres will be available:
POUNDS
Location: 1126 3rd Avenue
Hours of Operation: 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.
BC Schizophrenia Society (Prince George Branch)
Location: 1139 6th Avenue
Hours of Operation: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Fire Pit (Positive Living North)
Location: 1120 3rd Avenue
Hours of Operation: 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
While the high temperatures affect everyone, risks are greater for seniors, people with limited mobility, and those with pre-existing health conditions such as diabetes, heart disease, or respiratory disease.
Daily temperatures are expected to lower starting on Thursday.
