No shortage of northern BC talent at NHL development camps

While fans enjoy the offseason, NHL teams are building their futures by gathering young prospects for development camps.

A staggering 10 players from the Prince George Cougars’ 2023-24 roster are currently at camps:

  • Terik Parascak – Washington Capitals
  • Zac Funk – Washington Capitals
  • Hudson Thornton – Washington Capitals
  • Ondrej Becher – Detroit Red Wings
  • Borya Valis – Detroit Red Wings
  • Riley Heidt – Minnesota Wild
  • Koehn Ziemmer – L.A. Kings
  • Ty Young – Vancouver Canucks
  • Hunter Laing – Calgary Flames
  • Viliam Kmec – Vegas Golden Knights

A handful Cougars who played on the 2022-23 team are also at development camps:

  • Jaxsen Wiebe – Anaheim Ducks
  • Chase Wheatcroft – Dallas Stars
  • Tyler Brennan – New Jersey Devils
  • Ethan Samson – Philadelphia Flyers

That is not all northern BC can be proud of, a handful of promising hockey talents from across the region are also looking to make a name for themselves at camps:

  • Nico Myatovic (Prince George / Seattle Thunderbirds) – Anaheim Ducks
  • Miguel Marques (Prince George / Lethbridge Hurricanes) – Nashville Predators
  • Tanner Molendyk (McBride / Saskatoon Blades) – Nashville Predators
  • Cayden Lindstrom (Chetwynd / Medicine Hat Tigers) – Columbus Blue Jackets
  • Evan Gardner (Fort St. John / Saskatoon Blades) – Columbus Blue Jackets
  • Terrell Goldsmith (Fort St. James / Prince Albert Raiders) – Utah Hockey Club
  • Carson Golder (Smithers / Kelowna Rockets) – Winnipeg Jets

Carolina, Edmonton, Florida, New York (Islanders), and Pittsburgh have not released their development camp rosters yet.
