NHL Draft:
Three Prince George Cougars were selected during this year’s NHL Draft.
Terik Parascak was the first Cougar off the board, going to the Washington Capitals at 17th.
Ondrej Becher was picked 80th by the Detroit Red Wings.
Hunter Laing was taken 170th by the Calgary Flames.
Northern BC’s highest selected player was Medicine Hat Tigers forward Cayden Lindstrom, from Chetwynd, 4th overall by the Columbus Blue Jackets.
Goaltender Evan Gardner from Fort Ft. John was taken 60th overall, also by Columbus, after an impressive rookie season with the Saskatoon Blades.
Prince George’s own Miguel Marques was taken 87th overall by the Nashville Predators. He played for the Lethbridge Hurricanes last season.
