NHL: 

It is the ultimate; Game 7 of the Stanley Cup Final and it will be played tonight (Monday 5:15 start) in Florida.

It is all on the line for the Panthers and Edmonton Oilers with the series tied 3-3.

Overtime has not been played in the series and only one of the six games has been decided by one goal.

Home teams are 115-82 (.584) in the 197 all-time Game 7s in the Stanley Cup Playoffs
(2-1 this year) including a 12-5 (.706) mark in the 17 all-time Game 7s in the Stanley Cup Final.

Florida won the first three games by a combined score of 11-4 but Edmonton won the last three games by a combined score of 18-5.

The Oilers are just the third team in NHL history to force a Game 7 after falling behind 3-0 in the Stanley Cup Final.

In Stanley Cup Playoffs history, 211 teams have faced a 3–0 deficit in a best-of-seven series.

Only four of those teams overcame it to win and only one of those did so in the Stanley Cup Final.

27-year-old Connor McDavid has 42 points in the playoffs, 4th best all-time, behind Wayne Gretzky (47 points, 1984-85), Mario Lemieux (44 points, 1990-91) and Gretzky (43 points, 1987-88).

Results in the series: Florida won 3-0, 4-1 and 4-3 before the Oilers won the next three games 8-1, 5-3 and 5-1.

NHL Draft; PG Cougars:

The 2024 NHL Draft will be held on Friday (starting at 4:30 PM) and Saturday (beginning at 8:30 AM) in Las Vegas.

Three forwards with the Prince George Cougars are listed in the Central Scouting final rankings: Terik Parascak is 15th, Ondrej Becher is 69th and Hunter Laing 86th among North American skaters.

WHL schedule:

The Prince George Cougars will play four preseason games, none of them in P.G.

The Cougars face the Edmonton Oil Kings on Sept 7th and 8th in Edson, Alberta.

They also meet the Blazers twice, September 13th in Kamloops and Saturday, September 14th at the West Fraser Centre in Quesnel.

The Cougars begin their regular season on September 20th when they host the Spokane Chiefs at CN Centre.

The entire WHL regular season schedule will be made public on Tuesday (June 25th).

 

PG Spruce Kings:

The Prince George Spruce Kings will play 25 of their 26 BCHL regular season home games at the Kopar Memorial Arena on a weekend.

This will consist of nine games on a Friday, 13 on a Saturday, three Sunday afternoon at 3:00 and one on a Wednesday night.

The Spruce Kings home opener will be on Friday, September 27th against the Coquitlam Express.

Prince George will compete in the Coastal East Division (formally called the Mainland) along side the Chilliwack Chiefs, Coquitlam Express Langley Rivermen and defending champion Surrey Eagles.

UNBC Timberwolves:

The Canada West soccer schedule is out.

The UNBC Timberwolves will play 16 regular season games in the men’s division starting August 23rd at Fraser Valley.

The UNBC men will have their home opener August 30th against Victoria, the start of a six-game homestand.

The UNBC women have a 14-game schedule that will start September 6th at Mount Royal.

Their home opener goes September 13th against Thompson Rivers (TRU).

The Timberwolves regular season for both the men and women will end on the October 19th weekend.

CFL: (Final game in Week 3)

Saskatchewan  36  Hamilton  20

The Riders are 3-0 and the only unbeaten team in the West Division.

The Tiger-Cats are 0-3 and the only winless team in the East Division.

The (2-1) B.C. Lions host the (0-3) Edmonton Elks Thursday night at 7:00 to begin Week 4.

The Lions are coming off a 26-24 victory in Winnipeg.

MLB:

Cleveland Guardians  6  Toronto Blue Jays  5

The (35-42) Jays have lost 6 straight. They continue a 6-game road trip tonight (Monday 4:10) in Boston against the (42-36) Red Six.
