“The culture is huge.”: Lheidli T’enneh Chief eager to host National Indigenous Peoples Day

An eventful day is planned at Lheidli T’enneh Memorial Park on Friday to celebrate National Indigenous People’s Day.

Chief Dolleen Logan told MyPGNow.com for those wanting to learn more about the host First Nations dialect, that goal shouldn’t be hard to accomplish.

“I think the main takeaway would be learning another culture. It’s cool to know a word, everyone knows Haddih, but grab a First Nations person and ask them for another word.”

Logan added the day-long event continues to gain momentum following the pandemic.

“Everyone was scared. No one knew how to shake hands but we are getting more and more people out and it’s a great day to celebrate First Nations – the culture is huge and the language because that is where our culture comes from.”

The event, which runs from Noon to 8pm, will include Indigenous musicians, drummers, dancers, activities for all ages, and interactive information displays with community partners.
