19 recognized with North District RCMP awards

A North District RCMP Awards ceremony was held on Wednesday (May 29) where 19 people were presented with accolades.

Five earned medals for serving on the force for 20, 25, and 35 years.

Three members were given a Commanding Officer’s Citation for their poise during an event

in late 2021 where an active shooter opened fire on the Vanderhoof RCMP Detachment.

Three more were given the Commanding Officer’s Certificate of Appreciation for the work they did in the wake of the shooting.

A member of the Prince George RCMP’s Street Crew was awarded the Commanding Officer’s Commendation and Insignia for Outstanding Service for rescuing a person from a grader that was submerged in roughly 12 feet of water.

District Advisory Media Relations Officer for North District RCMP Madonna Saunderson was given the 35-year Gold Clasp and Certificate and the Commanding Officer’s Citation for long service and her work on a 2019 search for triple homicide suspects in the region.

I want to extend my sincerest congratulations to all of the deserving awards recipients for their outstanding contributions and achievements. The dedication, bravery and selflessness that are exemplified in these awards is a testament to the hard work and success of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police in B.C, Chief Superintendent Brian Edmonds, Commanding Officer for the North District RCMP, said in a news release.
