Evacuee numbers continue to rise as a pair of wildfires in the Fort Nelson area continue to rage on.
The Parker Lake wildfire, which is threatening the town has grown to 12,741 hectares in size.
The evacuation order has been expanded, with about 47-hundred people now ordered from their homes.
Of those, 231 have sought shelter in Prince George while another 600 are located in Dawson Creek.
However, Fort St. John continues to be the major hub for those displaced with another 2,500 confirmed to be in the community.
Wildfire crews, structure protection specialists, heavy equipment an aviation team as well as an Incident Management Unit are on site.
In addition, another larger fire is burning about 25 kilometres north of Fort Nelson.
The Patry Creek blaze is just under 72-thousand hectares.
Heavy Equipment and an Incident Management team are on the site as well.
Officials say it’s not currently a threat to the town but add things could change if the wind switches to the north.
