Band of rainy weather to make its way through Prince George

Prince George residents who have been praying for the rain will finally get their wish.

Five to fifteen millimetres of rain is expected to fall between now and Friday according to Environment Canada.

Meteorologist, Ken Dosanjh told MyPGNow.com that while it won’t wash away the drought or wildfire risks altogether, it will provide some temporary relief.

“The big thing it will do is bring these weak impulses to the area and kind of keep things cool and unsettled – on Thursday, we are looking at temperatures around nine degrees, which is eight or nine degrees below seasonal for that time.”

“So, we are looking at more moderate temperatures.”

Dosanjh added it’s been a pretty dry start to the month, so the rain couldn’t have come at a better time.

“On average, May in Prince George typically sees around 49 millimetres of rain. So far, Prince George has seen ten or 11. We are due for some rainfall to reach those thresholds for those monthly averages.”

Following Friday, a mix of sun and cloud will grace the northern capital this weekend with highs of 13 and 15 degrees for Saturday and Sunday.
