Prince George prepares for wildfire evacuees from Fort Nelson

The City of Prince George has activated the Emergency Social Service Centre to support evacuees from Fort Nelson.

The ESS is located in trailers on the Prince George Exhibition Grounds, and will be open from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm today (Sunday).

The City says it will remain activated daily while it is needed to support evacuees.

The ESS will provide short-term basic support to those impacted by disasters.

Yesterday (Saturday), Fort Nelson Mayor Rob Fraser told My PG Now that most evacuees went to Fort St. John, and were placed into hotels in Fort St. John, Dawson Creek, and Chetwynd.

The program is financed by the provincial government, and is administered by local governments and Indigenous communities.
