Walkouts and lockouts ahead for BC teachers

BCTF President Jim Iker targeted Premier Christy Clark at today’s news conference, responding to threats of a lock-out.

Iker laid out the impacts Monday’s lockouts would have, cutting teacher involvement during recess, lunch, and after school, jeopardizing report cards, exams, field trips, and sporting events.

He threw Clark’s “families first” campaign platform back in her face.

High schools will be locked out June 25th and 26th, while all schools will be locked out on June 27th.

Teachers also face ten per-cent in wage cuts if they move ahead with rotating walk-outs next week, including Prince George next Thursday.
