A Prince George woman turned $40 into 89-grand over the weekend.
Tanya Storey was the lucky winner of Saturday’s 177-thousand dollar PG Cougars Mega 50/50 jackpot with half of the proceeds going towards the Spirit of the North Health Care Foundation.
Storey already has some big plans for her portion of the money.
“It’s totally come in handy. I am going to be paying off my house and I don’t have much left on my mortgage so I will be mortgage free and I already am starting to look at vehicles.”
Storey, who is a Cougars fan, told MyPGNow.com, buying what is now the lucky 50/50 ticket was a spur-of-the-moment decision.
“I bought it probably an hour before – not even kidding. I had a number show up on my phone that I didn’t recognize, didn’t answer it the first time and then I did the second. It was pretty exciting with a lot of phone calls to family and screaming.”
“We were (my husband and I) sitting on the couch and we were amazed at how big the jackpot was but they are for such a good cause. Me and the hubby were sitting here buying tickets and then I bought one more and I bought six I think. I only spent forty bucks to win this – it was quite cool.”
Over 3,500 tickets have already been sold for Friday’s playoff opener against the Spokane Chiefs while just over 3,000 have been gobbled up for Game 2 on Saturday.
