WHL:
The Portland Winterhawks have taken over first place in the WHL Western Conference, one point ahead of the Prince George Cougars.
The (44-15-2-1) Winterhawks beat the Chiefs 3-2 Tuesday night in Spokane.
Both Prince George and Portland have six games remaining.
The (43-15-1-3) Cougars visit the (31-28-3-1) Kelowna Rockets tonight (Wednesday) at 7:00.
Prince George is riding a 13-game point streak (11-0-1-1) and Kelowna is on an 8-game point streak (7-0-0-1).
The Rockets are 5th in the Western Conference, two points behind Wenatchee and one point in front of Victoria.
The Cougars are 1st in the CHL rankings this week.

PG Cougars sniper Terik Parascak is the WHL Rookie of the Week for the fifth time this season.
Parascak notched five points (two goals, three assists) and a +4 rating in two games;
5-3 and 6-3 victories over the Vancouver Giants.

BCHL:
The Prince George Spruce Kings have six regular season games left with two of them at home this weekend.
The (14-31-3) Spruce Kings, who have lost four straight and 10 of their last 11, host the (19-24-4-1) Merritt Centennials on Friday night at 7:00 and Saturday night at 6:00.
The Spruce Kings Alumni Game is set for Saturday afternoon at 2:45 at the Kopar Memorial Arena.
Prince George is last in the 8-team Interior Division, 10 points behind the (19-26-3) Cranbrook Bucks who are in 7th.

BC Elite Hockey League:
The U18 Cariboo Cougars head to Burnaby to visit the Vancouver North East Chiefs in the best-of-three BC Elite Hockey League semifinals.
Games will be played on Friday afternoon at 3:00, Saturday afternoon at 3:15 and if needed Sunday morning at 10:30.

The (42-17-7) Vancouver Canucks continue a whopping 9-game homestand tonight at 7:30 against the (41-20-5) Colorado Avalanche.
The Avs have won four straight.

Para Biathlon:
The Para Nordic World Cup Finals begin today (10 AM Wednesday) at the Caledonia Nordic Ski Club.
This event follows the Para Biathlon World Championships where Canada earned four gold, a silver and two bronze in PG.
Mark Arendz of PEI captured three gold and a bronze.
His bronze came in the Team Sprint with Brittany Hudak of Prince Albert.
Hudak also picked up an individual bronze.
Natalie Wilkie of Salmon Arm earned a gold and silver.
Ukraine led the way with 20 medals, including eight gold.
There are a total of 185 athletes from 20 countries participating over the 12 days of competition.
