The second-year guard from Burnaby has been named the U SPORTS Men’s Basketball Player of the Week, making him the first UNBC player to ever receive that honour.

One day removed from receiving the Canada West Player of the Week honour, Sunga’s efforts topped the entire country in his sport.

He shared the weekly honour with nine additional student-athletes from across the country:

He averaged 13 points, nine assists and four-and-a-half rebounds during a four-game span which saw UNBC defeat three Top-10 nationally ranked schools (UBC, Manitoba and Calgary).

In addition, Sunga finished third amongst all Canada West players over 5.3 assists-per-game.
