The two Prince George Conservative candidates officially kicked off their election campaigns Wednesday afternoon with the opening of a joint campaign office.
Bob Zimmer and Todd Doherty are sharing an office downtown and pooling resources and volunteers.
In a speech, Cariboo – Prince George candidate Todd Doherty says he and Zimmer have already been hard at work.
“We started this process, this partnership back in January. We went and toured and met with councils and regional agencies because it’s important to us to understand and listen to those in our region.”
Zimmer will be running for re-election in the PG – Peace River riding. He won his first election in 2011 by a margin of 37%.
Doherty is looking to take over from Dick Harris, who has been in office for 22 years and won in 2011 with 56% of the vote.
“There is no such thing as a safe riding. Our commitment and dedication was to make sure we were out into the region and all corners of the region. It’s not just Prince George. It’s Vanderhoof, Quesnel, Williams Lake, Horsefly, the Chilcotin etc.”
Almost 100 people turned out for the ribbon cutting.
A volunteer at the opening says they have between 10 and 20 volunteers in every Monday to Thursday night to work the phones.
