WHL:
The Prince George Cougars made no major moves on WHL trade deadline day.
The Cougars added depth by acquiring 18-year-old forward Evan Groening from the Brandon Wheat Kings in exchange for a 10th-round draft pick.
Groening will continue to play this season in the Manitoba Junior Hockey League.

The Portland Winterhawks made a splash by obtaining high-scoring forward Nate Danielson from the Brandon Wheat Kings for two players and three draft picks, including a pair of first-rounders.
The 19-year-old Danielson, averaging a point per game, is a first-round pick, 9th overall of the Detroit Red Wings.

The Kamloops Blazers dealt 19-year-old forward Connor Levis to the Vancouver Giants for a package of three draft picks, including a first-rounder in 2025 and a second-rounder this year.

The (28-12) PG Cougars begin a 4-game homestand Friday and Saturday against the (19-17-2) Kelowna Rockets.
The Cougars are in first place in the WHL Western Conference, four points ahead of the (25-10-1-1) Portland Winterhawks (with Portland holding three games in hand).
The Rockets, who beat Seattle 5-2 Wednesday, are 6th out of 11 teams in the Western Conference.

The (27-11-3) Vancouver Canucks are 3-1 on a 7-game road trip that will continue tonight (Thursday at 4:00) against the (20-15-4) Pittsburgh Penguins.
The Canucks lead the Pacific Division and are second in the Western Conference, just a point behind the (27-9-4) Winnipeg Jets.
There are 13 Thursday games in the NHL with all seven Canadian teams in action.

The (11-17-3) Prince George Spruce Kings are on the road this weekend.
They visit the (16-13-1) Chilliwack Chiefs Friday night at 7:00 and the (13-12-6) Trail Smoke Eaters Sunday afternoon at 3:00.
(Their next home games are against the (20-9-0-2) Salmon Arm Silverbacks on Jan. 26th and 27th)
The Spruce Kings are last in the 8-team Interior Division but are just a point behind the 7th-place (11-16-3-1) Merritt Centennials and five back of the (14-18-2) Cranbrook Bucks.

BC Elite Hockey League:
The (18-5-1) U18 Cariboo Cougars visit the (19-3-0-2) Vancouver North East Chiefs on Saturday (3:30 PM) and Sunday (10:45 AM) in Burnaby in the BC Elite Hockey League.
Cariboo is in second place in the 9-team BC Elite Hockey League, three points behind the North East Chiefs and just a point ahead of the (18-4) Fraser Valley Thunderbirds.
