Council passes Code of Conduct bylaw

The City of Prince George’s Council Code of Conduct bylaw has been given final reading and has been adopted.

After nearly two hours of debate during Council’s previous meeting on December 4th, Council continued to debate on the bylaw during last night’s meeting before adopting it.

The bylaw sets out complaint and resolution procedures and includes several sanctions that could be imposed for a breach of the bylaw.

It also includes circumstances where an independent third-party solicitor or investigator may be appointed to help ensure neutrality when processing complaints.

In April, council voted to have administration review the existing Council Code of Conduct Policy, which was established in 2013, and has since had no amendments made to it.
