Over 41-million dollars in funding will be contributed to the UHNBC Acute Care Tower Early Works project by the Regional District of Fraser-Fort George.
The Regional Hospital District Board approved the five-year provisional budget during their December meeting.
It will see a new parkade constructed at University Hospital in PG along with the demolition of the Northern Interior Health Unit building.
Just over 114-thousand tonnes of material was managed at the Foothills Landfill in 2022 according to a report given to the Regional District of Fraser Fort-George.
During their December meeting, it was revealed over 40 thousand tonnes of material was received and diverted recycling.
Furthermore, onsite use as cover material saw approximately 74,417 tonnes of waste was buried at the facility from January 1, 2022 to December 31, 2022.
In addition, the Regional District also recognized outgoing Chief Administrative Officer Jim Martin who is retiring after 30 years with the group, including the last 17 in his current role.
An announcement regarding a new CAO will be made shortly.
The Board approved the following requests for Community and Recreation Grants:
• $600 to the Nukko Lake Recreation Commission for program expenses
• $3000 to the Nadislnich Lake Community Association for trail maintenance
• $25,000 to the Prince George Backcountry Recreation Association for cabin maintenance
• $2500 to the Buckhorn Elementary Parent Advisory Council for bussing
• $3394 to the Buckhorn Recreation Commission for insurance, popcorn maker and family fun night
• $68,687 to the Hixon Community Association for repairs, insurance and operating expenses
• $4999 to the Hixon Seniors Activity Society for operating and insurance expenses
• $15,000 to the Hixon Women’s Institute for operating and insurance expenses
• $6805 to the Bear Lake Recreation Association for storage container and installation
