The Village of McBride and its Mayor and Council are enduring some headaches.
This, after Mayor Loren Martin received a threatening phone call this past weekend, from an anonymous number using an obscured voice:
“…and then all of a sudden the caller said, “I have all the emails and text messages and you had better stop what you’re doing” and they didn’t go into any further detail than that, that was it; Then they hung up.”
In a press release directly from the Village, Martin says these are attacks on elected representatives, and that this has not been an isolated incident.
“Its just gotten kind of asinine, and the only way for this to stop is actually to put it out there. I mean thats what you do with bullies, you call them out and you say you know what we’ve had enough and we are not going to take it anymore.”
Martin says Saturdays phone call was an escalation of behaviour that is interfering with the governance of the village.
She says the RCMP and Worksafe are now being involved, with prosecution to be placed on those responsible.
