The Lheidli T’enneh First Nation has accepted a “Respectful Acknowledgment” from London Drugs.
A land acknowledgment plaque was presented to London Drugs COO Clint Mahlman.
“We’ve had many years, it’s not recent for us to work at building positive relationships with Indigenous communities wherever we have a store,” Malhman said.
“As part of that voyage, most recently, we’ve asked our store management to continue to build relationships in the community, to reach out to the Indigenous community and their leaders, to see how we can be more effective in our learning about local issues, and things that are important to the local First Nations that we do business with.
London Drugs is the second private enterprise in Prince George to give the acknowledgement to the Lheidli T’enneh, as the Save-On Foods Pine Centre location gave the First Nation an acknowledgement earlier this year.
“It’s more acknowledgement of our territory,” said Lheidli T’enneh Chief Dolleen Logan.
“This is the second one so hopefully there will be more.”
Logan said local businesses who are interested in having the land acknowledgements in their businesses should reach out to Communications Manager Kevin Brown for more information.
The Lheidli T’enneh previously accepted ‘Respectful Acknowledgement’ pledges from the City of Prince George, Regional District of Fraser-Fort George, Prince George Public Library, the Prince George Pediatricians, Prince George Airport Authority (YXS) and the Caledonia Nordic Ski Club.
