The Two Rivers Gallery will open two new exhibitions later this week.
Scott Bertram’s ‘A piece of the ground, a piece of the sky’, and Sara Robichaud’s ‘Unapologetic- Romantic Notions of a Modern Woman’ will be on display until October 11th.
According to curatorial assistant Myriam Le Lan, the Vancouver Island artists feature two very different takes on abstraction.
“It’s really interesting to see how abstraction can be brought in different ways. Sara is more of a feminist artist, she’s talking about her struggle to deal with her work as an artist, and to be a mom. Scott is more of a formal artist, so he uses a lot of formal restrictions to explore different way to use the medium of acrylic painting.”
The grand opening takes place at 7:30pm this Thursday, and starts with an ‘Artist Talk’ with Scott Bertram, accompanied by drinks and snacks.
An Artist Talk with Robichaud will take place in October.
“It’s really an immersive experience.” says Le Lan, “When you enter the room, you feel drawn to the paintings. Even though it’s kind of abstract, you can really feel the human behind the painting.”
