27 teams will flock to Prince George this week for the BC Midget Lacrosse Provincial Championship.
The PG Midget Posse steamrolled the competition this season, going undefeated through 4 tournaments, most recently picking up gold in Kelowna.
But now, they’ll be facing their biggest test yet.
“The provincial body for lacrosse actually moved us up a tier, so that’s a big challenge,” says Tracey Green, “It’s a much faster game, but I think our boys are ready.”
The Posse will be competing in the A2 division.
The A1 competition is dominated by team hailing from Vancouver and Victoria, while A2 is considered the highest level of play outside the lower mainland.
The A1 tournament gets underway Wednesday afternoon, with all games being played at the Kin Arena.
Northern BC will be very well-represented in this year’s tournament.
“Williams Lake, Vanderhoof, and Fort St. John are also participating at the C level, and Quesnel is participating at the B level,” adds Green, “There’s going to be lots of people in town. 20 kids per team, plus coaches and parents, hopefully lots of people in the stands.”
Mr. PG will be sporting a lacrosse stick in celebration of the tournament.
