The number of bear sightings has been suspiciously down over the past while.
The Northern Bear Awareness Society says there is not near the activity this year as compared to ones previous.
President Dave Bakker says they are running about half the number of normal incident reports.
“We’ve been very sort of fortunate this year that there has been a lot of rain that has supported natural growth,” says Bakker, “we are still doing alright even though with the heat that we are having, so there is still a lot of good natural food out there for the moment.”
Bakker says this heat wave is also pushing bears into the shade.
He says if they do come out to forage, it would be in the early morning or late evenings.
