City looks to residents for budget input

The City of Prince George is ready to start doing phone surveys to find out what people want in the next budget.

Last year’s phone survey saw only 401 surveys completed out of 3500 calls sent out.

The survey will be posted online this year, but Council isn’t sold on the validity of online input.

“Doing it as a phone survey is professional, it’s controlled, and we know the validity of the statistics,” says Councillor Garth Frizzell, “Putting it online is much harder to police, and much harder to get relevant data. But, it will give you a snapshot of public opinion.

Online surveys will be taken into consideration, but will not be included in the final data.

Questions included in this year’s survey revolve around transparency, open data, and what people think should be included in the budget.
