Schools out means kids are out says ICBC

With school now out for the summer, motorists need to be aware of more kids on the roads.

ICBC is asking drivers to slow down and watch out for any children in local neighbourhoods and parks.

Road Safety Coordinator Diana Pozer says to also watch for signs of children.

“You might see a hockey net on the side of the road or what have you,” says Pozer, “and kids aren’t paying attention to traffic when they are playing so we want them to pay extra attention when they are out driving and slow down a lot.”

Pozer says to also watch out for kids who may jump out between vehicles.

In the North Central Region, seven child pedestrians are injured in crashes each year.
