Prince George Pride celebrations are less than two weeks away, and event planning is in full swing.
Organizers are still looking for volunteers, and are hosting information sessions on Thursday and Sunday.
“We have our core group of volunteers, and we have seen a new group of people coming in… So the excitement from last year has definitely had an impact on the awareness of what we do and what it take to put on Pride,” says Pride President Valentine Crawford, “The money we raise goes directly into putting on Pride, the educational and promotional side, and the visibility of Pride across the north.”
This year’s parade will also feature a different look.
“You’ll see a different Parade route… We’re weaving in and out of downtown in amongst various streets as opposed to just one big circle,” explains Crawford, “For volunteers, the biggest thing is traffic control for the parade. It takes about 15 to 30 people because of the size of the parade.”
Thursday’s volunteer orientation session will take place from 6:30 to 7:30 at Positive Living North.
