UNBC looks back and forward during 25 year celebration

The University looked back and forward during Saturday’s community celebration of its 25th Anniversary.

A crowd of about 500 gathered at the Northern Sports Centre to hear from past and current students as well as dignitaries that have seen the school grow over the past quarter century.

President Doctor Daniel Weeks also laid out the future vision of the school, which is being confident and resilient.

“I think we can accomplish those things much more effectively, if we think about how they connect to being connected to the world,” says Weeks, “connected to the North, the South and the world, being confident in our institution, and driving the kind of institution people want to attend.”

Weeks says there are a number of programs and initiatives the school will be doing in the coming years.

One will be creating a First Nations liaison position, creating a Student Leaders Program and developing a better identity for UNBC.
