School District 57 bringing back Diversified for unserved routes

School District 57 may have a solution to the district’s bussing woes.

SD 57 announced today that beginning in January, Diversified Transportation will be providing transportation services for a number of previously underserviced routes.

“The District appreciates that both providers were willing to work with us to design a solution that puts students first, and ensure that students are transported to and safely home from school each day,” said Assistant Superintendent Lee Karpenko in a release.

The district will be serviced by both First Student and Diversified Transportation until June 2024.

Route information will continue to be available on District websites, and both providers will be contacting bussing students and families related to stop locations as well as pickup and drop off times.

SD 57 announced in June the bus contract was awarded to First Student.

The provider had several drivers resign just two days before the school year started, which led to more problems down the road.
