Sk’ai Zeh Yah Youth Centre receives $15,000 donation from Ford

Prince George Ford has made a hefty holiday donation towards a local youth centre.

Carrier Sekani Family Services (CSFS), who operate the Sk’ai Zeh Yah Youth Centre, have received a $15,000 donation from Ford which will help local at risk youth and young adults.

“A lot of the youth who access the centre are aged out of care, and they don’t have anywhere to go. There’s so much judgment on these kids, but really – they’re survivors,” said Amy Merritt, Director of Youth Services.

“Our goal is to change the perception of these kids and the good that they are all capable of doing.”

The centre welcomes people in need between 18 and 29 years old.

After a tour of the facility, Prince George Ford’s General Manager, Chris Wall, said “I had no idea how big of an impact [Sk’ai Zeh Yah] was making, how big it is, all the services that are provided. It puts a smile on your face.”

CSFS says the money will go towards warm winter clothes, and improving amenities at the site.
