PG apartments affordable and numerous, compared to rest of Province

Prince George has very appealing rental rates, and a stable number of rental properties when compared to the rest of the Province.

The Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation released its spring rental market survey, which found that BC’s apartment vacancy rate declined to 1.8% in April 2015, down from 2.4% the same time last year.

Meanwhile, CMHC’s Carol Frketich says Prince George finds its vacancy rate at 5.3% compared to 4.2% last year:

“So the supply has been relatively stable this Spring compared to last Spring, so an increase in the vacancy rate suggests that demand has stepped back a little bit”

Frketich says the average rent for a two bedroom apartment in Prince George is $782, far more affordable than the BC average of $1,136.
