The Prince George Cougars have added some grit to their lineup.
The Cougars acquired Jaxsen Wiebe and a conditional eighth-round pick in 2026 from the Oil Kings, in exchange for Noah Boyko, a 2023 third-round pick, and a conditional third-round draft pick in 2026.
Wiebe, a seventh-round, 141st-overall pick of the Red Deer Rebels in 2017, has four points (3G, 1A) in just six games with the Oil Kings this season.
Wiebe has 32 penalty minutes in those six games and has one game remaining on a seven-game suspension for a check-from-behind major and game misconduct against the Saskatoon Blades on November 12th.
That was his second suspension of the season (and 5th overall), as he was given four games under supplemental discipline following a game against the Blades on October 23rd.
He racked up 11 PIM that game.
Wiebe was tied for the Oil Kings’ lead in scoring at last year’s Memorial Cup with four points (3G, 1A) in four games.
In 130 WHL Games, the 6′ 2″, 209-pound forward has racked up a total of 60 points (22G, 38 A).
“Jaxsen is a unique player that brings a physical element and has the experience of winning,” said Cougars Head Coach and GM Mark Lamb.
