It’s been a fall to remember in Prince George.
The weather has been so good that a 100-year-old temperature record was smashed.
According to Environment Canada, the northern capital hit a high of 21.6 degrees yesterday (Monday), smashing the old mark of 18.9 set in 1922.
Meteorologist, Derek Lee told MyPGNow.com there is an outside chance we could see another record fall today (Tue) but a pair of factors could deter that possibility.
“However, we are seeing more haze from forest fire smoke that is coming from parts of Canada and the United States and because of those hazy skies it may obscure some of the sunlight and keep the temperatures low.”
A high of 16 degrees is being predicted for today (Tuesday) – the record high for October 18th is 18.3 degrees, which was set in 1974.
However, daily temperatures will dip to the low-single digits by Friday with cloud clover, rain, and possible flurries being forecasted.
“It’s looking like a chance earlier in the week for showers. As we head into the weekend, it’s looking like the unsettled trend will still be the same – so more cloud cover will being on Friday with the temperatures starting to drop.”
