MLB:

Toronto Blue Jays  3  New York Yankees  2  (10 innings)

Yankees slugger Aaron Judge failed to homer for a 6th straight game.

Judge has 60 home runs, one shy of Roger Maris’ American League record, with nine games remaining.

The (87-67) Jays, with just eight regular-season games left, lead the American League Wild Card standings by 2 1/2 games over Tampa and by 3 over Seattle.

In the race for the final wild-card spot, Seattle is 3 1/2 games ahead of Baltimore.

The Jays host the A.L. East-leading Yankees again tonight (Tuesday 4:07 PT), and Wednesday.

Toronto will also entertain Boston on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday before concluding the regular season with a 3-game series at Baltimore on October 3rd, 4th, and 5th.

The (67-86) Chicago Cubs have nine games left in their season starting with a home game tonight (Tuesday) against the Philadelphia Phillies.

Jared Young of Prince George has played in six games with the Cubs since his call-up from Triple-A Iowa.

The 27-year-old Young is batting .263, going 5-for-19 with two doubles, three walks, no RBIs, and seven strikeouts.

 

NFL: (Final game in Week 3)

Dallas  23  New York Giants  16

Both the Cowboys and Giants are 2-1 in the NFC East, behind the 3-0 Philadelphia Eagles.

The Eagles and the (3-0) Miami Dolphins are the only unbeaten teams in the NFL after three weeks of the season.

Week four begins Thursday night at 5:15 (PT) with Miami at (1-2) Cincinnati.

The only winless teams in the NFL are (0-3) Las Vegas and (0-2-1) Houston.

CFL:

The (9-4) B.C. Lions host the (3-10) Ottawa Redblacks Friday night at 7:30.

The Lions have clinched a playoff spot and are tied with the (9-5) Calgary Stampeders for second in the West Division, although B.C. has a game in hand.

Week 17 of the CFL season begins Friday (5:00 PT) with (6-8) Saskatchewan at (12-2) Winnipeg.

BC Football Conference:

The Prince George Kodiaks have two games left in their first season in the BC Football Conference.

The (1-7) Kodiaks visit the (4-5) Langley Rams Saturday afternoon at 4:00 before concluding with a home game on Saturday, October 8th at 7:00 p.m. against the (8-0) Okanagan Sun.

The (1-1) Prince George Cougars continue a four-game homestand Friday and Saturday against the (0-0-1) Kelowna Rockets.

BC Elite Hockey League: (BCEHL)

The (0-2) U18 Cariboo Cougars host the (2-0) Valley West Giants Saturday afternoon at 2:30 and Sunday morning at 11:00 at Kin 1 in the BC Elite Hockey League.

The (1-1) U18 female Northern Capitals play league games this weekend in Surrey. The Caps face the Greater Vancouver Comets Friday morning at 10:00, the Vancouver Island Seals Saturday afternoon at 4:30, and the Fraser Valley Rush Sunday morning at 8:00.

Canada West Soccer:

The UNBC Timberwolves are on the road this weekend in Canada West soccer.

The (5-4-1) UNBC men visit the (5-2) UBC Thunderbirds Friday and Saturday night at 7:30.

Striker Michael Henman of the Timberwolves already has 15 goals in just 10 games this year.

The (2-5-1) UNBC women visit the (0-3-5) Fraser Valley Cascades Friday night at 5:30 and the (6-1-1) Trinity Western Spartans Saturday night at 5:00.
