MLB:

Toronto Blue Jays  3  Tampa Bay Rays  2

The American League Player of the Week, Bo Bichette, hit a 2-run homer in the bottom of the 8th to give the Jays the come-from-behind victory.

The same teams play again today (Tuesday) in a day-night doubleheader in Toronto (10:07 a.m. and 4:07 p.m. PT) as they continue a 5-game series.

With 22 games left, the (79-61) Blue Jays are tied with the Seattle Mariners for the top wild-card spot in the American League just 1/2 a game ahead of Tampa Bay.

NFL: (Monday night game to complete Week 1)

Seattle Seahawks  17  Denver Broncos  16

Broncos kicker Brandon McManus missed a 64-yard field with 15 seconds left in the game.

The Denver loss spoiled the return of QB Russell Wilson, who spent 10 seasons with the Seahawks.

Seattle is the only NFC West team with a 1-0 record after Week 1.

Dallas Cowboys QB Dak Prescott is expected to miss six-to-eight weeks following surgery on his right thumb.

Prescott was injured in the 19-3 Sunday night loss to Tampa Bay.

CFL:

The B.C. Lions play their next two games against the Stampeders: Saturday at 4:00 PM (PT) in Calgary and the following Saturday, September 24th (7:00) in Vancouver.

After 14 weeks of the season, the (8-3) Lions are tied with the (8-4) Stampeders for second in the West Division, although B.C. has played one fewer game.

Week 15 starts Friday night at 6:30 (PT) with (3-10) Edmonton at (6-7) Saskatchewan.

BC Football Conference:

The (1-5) Prince George Kodiaks visit the (2-4) Kamloops Broncos Saturday night at 6:00.

The Kodiaks lost to the Langley Rams 43-16 this past weekend at Masich Place Stadium.

BCHL:

The Prince George Spruce Kings play three preseason games this week, with two of them on home ice at the PG Coliseum.

The Spruce Kings host the Merritt Centennials on Wednesday and the Salmon Arm Silverbacks on Thursday before they play their final exhibition game on Saturday in Salmon Arm.

The Spruce Kings lost their preseason opener, 6-5 in Merritt on Thursday.

They open their regular season on the road, Friday, September 23rd at Coquitlam.

WHL:

The Prince George Cougars play their final two preseason games against the Blazers: Friday in Kamloops and Saturday in PG at CN Centre.

The regular season opens for the Cougars on Friday, September 23rd when they host the Tri-City Americans.

The PG Cougars have hired Carter Rigby as an assistant coach.

The 28-year-old Rigby, a former WHL player, spent the last three seasons as Head Coach of the Osoyoos Coyotes of the Kootenay International Junior Hockey League (KIJHL).

Canada West Soccer:

The UNBC Timberwolves play in Alberta this weekend in Canada West Soccer.

The (2-3-1) UNBC men visit the University of Alberta Friday night (4:00 PT) and Lethbridge Sunday afternoon (1:15 PT).

The (2-2) UNBC women play at MacEwan Saturday and Alberta Sunday with both games to start at 11 a.m. PT.
