The amount of fires in the Prince George area are double then what they were at this time in 2014.
Fire Information Officer, Jill Kelsh says the numbers are staggering.
“we’ve had 138 fires to date with that said they are not all currently burning but we do have a few that are still burning, last year at this time we had 64 to date so we are double than what we were last year”
The majority of the fires have been caused by lightning.
Kelsh adds the fire at Little Bobtail lake is 100 percent contained and fire crews will pulled from the scene shortly.
“we will have crews on-site until the weekend after that they will on be there when needed so if there is a flare up or smoke along the perimeter we will send crews oout.
The smoke from the fire will remain visible for the rest of the summer.
