Prince George City Councillor Murry Krause will not be seeking re-election this fall.
“It has been an incredible honour to serve the citizens of Prince George, and I want to thank those that have supported me over the years,” Krause said.
“My goal has always been to serve the community well, and to make the community a better place for everyone who calls Prince George home.”
Krause said it has not been an easy decision to make, but the time was right.
“I think I just decided that there will be a whole bunch of new people coming up and they’ll serve Prince George well,” Krause said.
“Maybe with the energy I have left, I would re-involve myself with community work.”
Krause served a total of 23 years on Council, from 1996 to 1999, and from 2002 to the present.
Krause said one of the things he remembers most fondly about being on council was the renaming of Lheidli T’enneh Memorial Park, which he brought to Council at a meeting in July 2015.
“I’m very pleased with that. For most people, it’s just what they call the park. I think that, hopefully, that will contribute to a good relationship building with the Lheidli T’enneh,” Krause said.
The municipal election will take place on October 15th.
