Theatre Northwest to bring stage combat training to the public

Theatre Northwest will be opening their doors to thespians and the public alike next month, offering two courses in stage combat.

The seminars will be taught by Thomas Usher, who has been acting in, and directing plays in Alberta for the last 30 years.

“Thomas is a director and a certified stage fighting choreographer” said the theatre’s Artistic Director Marnie Hamagami.

Hamagami says Usher initially reached out to arrange a lunch when he comes to town in September, which she turned into lunch and two four-and-a-half hour seminars.

“This course is designed to be a refresher and beginner course for people,” Hamagami said, welcoming any interested members of the public to attend.
