Vanderhoof officials hope Nechako will hold

The District of Vanderhoof says they are well prepared for any possible flooding on the Nechako River.

Six properties in the area have been sandbagged and gabion baskets have been installed the full two thousand meters where flooding is possible.

Chief Administrative Officer Evan Parliament says as of Tuesday the river is flowing at 649 cubic meters a second.

“It’s expected to go to 670 and that’s the target we’re expecting it to hold at,” says Parliament, “and we continue to work with our partners on that.”

Parliament says the district is holding a community meeting tomorrow at seven pm at the Friendship Centre.

He says an update on the flood and more information on it will be released.
