A 25-year-old Prince George man is facing several weapons charges following a weekend incident on Central Street East.
Just before 10 pm on Saturday, the RCMP responded to a weapons complaint outside a home in the area of question.
Witnesses stated they saw two men in an argument and one of them pointed what appeared to be a gun at the other, before leaving the area on foot.
Police located the suspect a few blocks away on 20th Avenue and Massey Drive.
Investigators arrested Michael Campbell-Alexander and located a firearm in his backpack.
According to Mounties, he is known to the police for similar offenses and will remain in custody until his next court date.
The B.C. Prosecution Service approved the following charges in this matter:
- Pointing a firearm
- Possession of a loaded prohibited/restricted firearm
- Possession of a firearm knowing its possession is unauthorized
- Unauthorized possession of a prohibited/restricted firearm
- Possession of a weapon for the purpose of committing an offence
- Possession of a firearm/ammunition contrary to order
- Possession of a firearm knowing the serial number is tampered with
- Possession of a firearm/ammunition contrary to order
- Transport of a firearm contrary to regulations
- Possession of ammunition for the purpose of committing an offence
“At the time of his arrest, Michael Campbell-Alexander was bound by a court order not to be in possession of a firearm. Thankfully, no one was injured in this incident. Police would like to thank the witnesses who called in this report, making it possible for us to locate and arrest this offender, said Cpl. Jennifer Cooper.”
