Several Prince George businesses have been analyzing their carbon footprint with help of UNBC and the PG Chamber of Commerce.
Phase two of the Carbon Footprint Reduction Program ran this past Winter, and saw several environmental students going into business situations and analyzing carbon emissions, while making recommendations on how to reduce them.
One of those students, Krystal Devauld says it was a welcomed experience to enter the real world:
“The realness of it, the fact that you really need to know your stuff and for me in particular to have that integrity and to be able to support your client and the people that you are working with”
Project coordinator with the Chamber, Barbara Otter, agreed:
“I believe the biggest thing the students took from this was first hand interactions with the businesses, live presentations, being able to think on their feet being able to view the carbon footprint analysis off of actual live data”
Phase three of the project will be focused on helping businesses implement any of these carbon reduction strategies, and it runs until August.
